What Is a Morse Code Generator?

A Morse code generator converts plain text into Morse code — a system of dots (short signals) and dashes (long signals) that represent letters, numbers, and punctuation. Our generator goes beyond simple text conversion by letting you hear the code as audio, customize the tone frequency and speed, and download the result as a standard WAV audio file you can share or use in projects.

Use Cases for Generated Morse Code

Morse code generators are used by amateur radio operators (hams) for practice, educators teaching communication history, filmmakers adding authentic sound effects, escape room designers creating puzzles, and hobbyists embedding secret messages in art or jewelry. The downloadable WAV format works in any audio player, video editor, or presentation software — making it easy to integrate Morse audio into any project.

Audio Format & Customization

Our generator produces uncompressed 16-bit PCM WAV audio at 44.1kHz — CD quality with no lossy compression. You can adjust the tone from 400Hz (low pitch) to 800Hz (high pitch), with 550Hz as the standard CW frequency used by ham radio operators. Speed ranges from 5 WPM (very slow, great for beginners) to 40 WPM (expert level). Three waveforms are available: sine (smooth, natural tone), square (harsh, digital sound), and sawtooth (buzzy, retro feel). Try our Morse code decoder to convert in the other direction, explore the audio library for pre-built sounds, or visit our learning center to master Morse by ear. For a two-way conversion tool, use the main translator.
